Richard Howell about himself:
“Growing up in Southern California I was exposed to a wide variety of cultures that made me explore a few things: what made the people of these cultures dance and sing and what made them smile? The culmination of these music forms helped and inspired me to create what I refer to as “Bridge Music”: it has its roots in all the music that excites me. It is music that bridges the present to the future with respect of the music of the past. Jazz is the influential element.
WE ARE ALL CONNECTED was inspired by an article I read about how DNA connects us all in our shared humanity.
Although some people label this album “spirited jazz pop” I still consider it as “Bridge Music”: the music of the future with energy in the style and tradition of the great John Coltrane
Richard Howell’s main base is in California but twice a year he teaches jazz history at schools throughout Germany . He is also available as a solo musician, with a trio, quartet or quintet for private or corporate events and festivals.
